Mollerussa, March 20, 2026 - FEMAC took part in the presentation of the strategic update of the agricultural inputs sector in Catalonia at the Fira de Mollerussa. The event, organized by ACCIÓ with the collaboration of FEMAC, brought together professionals and companies from the sector with the aim of analyzing the evolution of the industry and identifying new growth opportunities in an increasingly competitive and changing environment.

The session began with welcome remarks from Marc Solsona, Mayor and President of the Fair; Clara Porta, ACCIÓ’s delegate in Lleida; and Josep Ramon Pons, President of FEMAC. This was followed by a presentation of the study results by Giulia Diamante, Head of the Sector Analysis and Opportunity Detection Team at ACCIÓ, and Jordi Salvador, Manager at PwC Strategy & Economics, who jointly developed the report.

Sector overview and evolution

The analysis highlights the sector’s sustained growth over the past decade. Currently, the agricultural machinery and inputs sector in Catalonia generates a turnover of over €2.2 billion, representing a 26% increase compared to a decade ago. There has also been growth in the number of companies, now totaling 166 (+25%), and in employment, with nearly 6,500 professionals (+36%).

During the session, the main conclusions of the analysis were presented, covering both the current state of the sector in Catalonia and the international trends that may shape the future of the industry. The study identifies key areas such as agricultural machinery, seeds, agrochemicals, bioinputs, and agtech, highlighting the significant share of agrochemicals and bioinputs, which account for nearly 49% of companies, as well as agricultural machinery (34%).

The event concluded with a roundtable discussion on the key trends transforming the sector, moderated by Alberto Pezzi, Senior Cluster Manager at ACCIÓ. Participants included Enric Pedrós, Cluster Manager at FEMAC; Natalia Fabregat, CEO and Director of Desarrollos Agroquímicos SA (DASA); Ferran Iturbe, CEO of Teyme Group; and Jordi Barceló, Co-founder and CEO of ModpoW AgriTechnologies.

During the discussion, participants shared experiences and insights on the main challenges facing the sector, addressing issues such as the impact of European regulation, the transition towards servitization models in agricultural machinery, the growth of the AgTech ecosystem, and the need to strengthen collaboration among companies and stakeholders. The role of clusters as drivers of innovation, knowledge transfer, and opportunity generation within the sector was also highlighted.
